Terror Suspect on Canadian Idol

Four people were arrested last week including one who moonwalked across a Montreal stage during an audition for Canadian Idol.

Khuram Sher was arrested as part of an RCMP national security investigation, as police continue to investigate a possible cell allegedly plotting to attack targets at home.

Sher told Idol judges in 2008 that he hailed from Pakistan and was a fan of “hockey, music and acting.”

He sings an off-tune rendition of Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated” with – as the show’s website describes – some “nifty” dance moves.

“Have you ever thought of being a comedian?” asks one of the judges of the 26-year-old.

Another remarks: “The dance moves were good, the singing, bad.”

London's The Sun reports that the Harry Potter star shed her locks to screen-test and audition for the part of Lisbeth Salander in the upcoming movie based on The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Daniel Craig has been cast as the male lead and the part of Lisbeth will be a huge coup for one lucky actress.

Host of The X-Factor??

Handsome British TV host Steve Jones -- once romantically linked with Halle Berry, Pamela Anderson and Hayden Panettiere -- is rumored to be the front-runner to host Simon Cowell's talent show "The X-Factor" when it comes to Fox in 2011. Sources say Jones has not yet signed a deal, but is said to be one of Cowell's top choices, with Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger in line for the judging panel.

A couple of weeks back, Kristin Roe became the first Nova Scotian to swim the English Channel. On Friday she swam Halifax Harbour. The Channel swim took 17 hours. The Harbour swim took less than a half hour.

The Macdonald Bridge will be closed on:
Sunday August 1 from 8:30am to 12 noon for the MACPASS Miles bridge races and;
Monday August 2 from 7:00am to 5:00pm for the Natal Day Parade and Bridgewalk events.

The MacKay Bridge is fully open during Natal Day weekend.
