Cool Coldplay Video

This is a really cool new Coldplay video that can only be seen online. It features Chris Martin as a "superhero" battling a villanous squirrel against a massive chalk drawing back-drop.
There's a full explanation of how it was made to the right of the video.

Kids Allowance

Brad's son Mac is 5 years old and is asking for allowance because there is a boy in his class who gets money everyweek from his parents. Brad is in a delima what should he do.

Are you haveing the same dilema? What did you do for your children? Did you get allowance when you were a kid?

Experts say ages 5-8 are considered a good time for starting allowances. One rule of thumb suggests 50 cents for every year of age. A 6-year-old would get $3 each week or month, depending on your budget. Hand over the allowance the same time each week. To keep track through the year, give your child 52 homemade IOUs to exchange for the weekly allowance. Experts are divided over whether to tie allowances to household chores.

5 Ways to Burn an Extra 500 Calories a Day!

In your mid-20s, your metabolism slows down, and your body starts burning fewer calories . . . up to 200 less a day. Then at 40, your body REALLY starts packing it away. But it doesn't have to. Here are five easy ways to burn 500 extra calories a day . . .

#1.) WORKOUT OUTSIDE. You burn 10 percent more calories running outside than you do on a treadmill. Treadmills drag your feet, and you don't have to propel yourself forward. And running into the wind, even if it's a slight breeze, burns more calories.

#2.) ALWAYS WARM UP. Most of us don't take the five minutes to do it, but we should. For every degree your body temperature goes up, your metabolic rate increases by 13 percent.

#3.) RUN AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS. Bursts of intense activity make you burn more fat than running or riding a bike at one constant speed. And even after you're finished, it makes your body burn about 15 percent more fat than it would otherwise.

#4.) DEVOTE ONE HOUR, ONCE A WEEK. Researchers found that people who worked out for an hour burned nearly five times as many post-workout calories as people who only exercised for 30 minutes.

#5.) USE HEAVIER DUMBBELLS. You burn 25 percent more calories lifting 20 pounds five times, than you do lifting 10 pounds ten times . . . even though it's the same total weight.

--And researchers say that even if you can only do sets of 3 to 6 reps with heavier weights, it makes your body burn up to eight percent more calories every night while you SLEEP. (Prevention.com)

Mom Doesn't Like Her Future Son-In-Law

Dear Breakfast Club,

I've been listening to you guys for years and I've never contacted you before but I need help. My daughter came home from Fort McMurray two weeks ago and informed us she was getting married in the spring. I tried to fake happiness for her but she could tell I wasn't 100% pleased.

Here's the problem. I think her fiance (my soon to be son-in-law) is a total loser. He's going to be terrible for her. I don't think they'll last five years and by that time he will have sucked the life out of her. She's 25 years old and has been on her own for two years.

Should I intervene and tell here what I'm thinking or should I just hold my tongue and help her get ready for the wedding?

I have no idea what to do.

Signed,

Mother of the Bride

4 Ways to Make Sure You Are Never Late

There's no way around it: being late makes you feel awful. Whether you're at work, picking up a friend, or showing up for a date. And if you're CHRONICALLY late, it makes you look like a jerk. So here are four ways to make sure you're more punctual . . .

#1.) MAKE IT WORTH YOUR WHILE. Ask yourself: "What will I gain by getting there on time?" Will you beat traffic? Will you make progress towards getting a raise? If nothing else, at least you won't have to come up with another ridiculous excuse.

#2.) STOP DOING "ONE MORE THING." A lot of people are late because they always try to do "one more thing" before they leave the house . . . like checking email or throwing in a load of laundry. Instead, make that the FIRST thing you do the minute you get home.

#3.) DON'T MESS WITH YOUR CLOCK. Have you ever set your clock ahead ten minutes to force yourself to be on time? Then you know it doesn't work. It might make you FEEL like you're doing something about your lateness, but it only changes one thing:

--You show up when your watch says 9:15, instead of 9:05 . . . but you're still not there at 9:00.

#4.) PLAN TO BE EARLY. Some people would rather sprint to their gate at the airport than get there an hour early and wait. And if they ARE ever early, they kill time by reading magazines or playing cell phone games . . . instead of doing something worthwhile.

--Instead, plan ahead and bring something that IS worthwhile. Try going over bills or checking your kid's homework while you wait. Time will fly. Plus, you'll check things off your list, and create more time in your day. (AskMen.com)

WHAT A PERSON'S TV PREFERENCES SAYS ABOUT THEM

* Comedies: A person who watches comedies is trying to feel positive by perceiving daily life as a sitcom. Never make fun of them, but do laugh at their jokes because they want your approval.
* Sports: This is a goal-oriented person. A sports fan does not like to feel cornered. You are lucky because your lover enjoys sex and wants a partner to enjoy it too.
* Reality Shows: This viewer is concrete, down to earth and not attracted to fantasy. This person is likely to be competitive, and looking for validated success -- acknowledge it.
* News: He or she is straightforward, basic and likes to read the fine print. This person needs structure, so don't surprise him or her with unstructured fun.
* Drama: This viewer thrives on romance and is in love with the idea of love, especially its highs and lows. It's good to be emotional and use metaphors.
* Home Improvement TV: This viewer likes the nuts and bolts of things and relationships. Too much makeup or formality is a turn off.
* Adventure & Discovery: He or she is an explorer and loves to change it up. Routine will deaden this heart and cause your beloved to wander away on a solo journey.

Based on your preference, is there any truth to this?

SIX REASONS WOMEN TURN DOWN A SECOND DATE:

First dates are all about first impressions. So if a woman has a BAD impression . . . then there probably won't be a SECOND date. Here are six reasons women say no to date number two . . .

#1.) THE GUY SEEMED DESPERATE. Guys, if you like the girl, that's great. But if you act like you're already in love with her after one date, you're moving too fast. And that makes women want to put on the brakes.

#2.) THE GUY DRANK TOO MUCH. Alcohol can help get rid of the first-date jitters, but you don't want to look like you don't have control. Slurring your words isn't sexy.

#3.) THE GUY WAS TOO HANDS-ON. Guys, even if a first date is going well, keep your hands to yourself. You can touch her back and her arms, but everything else is off limits.

#4.) THE GUY HAD BAD MANNERS. Guys, don't lick your fingers, don't check your phone, and whatever you do, don't check out the waitress. Put a napkin on your lap, chew with your mouth closed, and don't slurp from your drink.

#5.) HE CALLED HIS EX-GIRLFRIEND "CRAZY." Even if it's true, a guy shouldn't say it on a first date. He'll seem shady. Plus, it's a turn-off. No woman wants to deal with a crazy ex-girlfriend.

#6.) HE WAS RUDE TO THE WAIT-STAFF. Complaining is unattractive. And yelling at the waiter will make her think you don't respect other people . . . which means you probably won't respect HER.

What's Off Limits to Criticize Women About?

A male writer for Marie-Claire magazine says that there are some things women can hear from their best girlfriends, gay male friends and close female relatives but won't accept from their male significant others. Here they are:

Weight - Some guys think it's okay to make weight loss suggestions, but the best policy is silence. If you're dying to make a suggestion, get one of her sisters or girlfriends to tell her on your behalf.

Outfit - If you like what she's wearing, keep it simple and say "you look great" or "I like that dress." If you don't like what she's wearing, keep your mouth shut. And never fall into the trap of saying "you look great today" because she might turn around and say "Today? Does that mean I don't look good on other days?"

Friends/Family - Some people have friends and family members who are annoying. We all do. But we choose our friends and if someone criticizes our friends they are also criticizing our choices in a way. As for family, don't forget that blood is often thicker then water.

Driving: It seems to be a guy thing: no matter what, they think they're better drivers than the women in their lives. If she's got really bad driving skills that could get her pulled over or in an accident, talk to her in the most caring way possible about it. Otherwise, keep your mouth shut and take the wheel yourself whenever possible.

He wants his ex-girlfriend at his wedding!

SHOULD I LET MY FIANCÉ INVITE HIS EX-GIRLFRIEND TO OUR WEDDING???

My fiancé and I have been going over the guest list for our wedding . . . and we've already hit a snag.

He dated a woman for five years, and almost married her, but they broke up a few years ago.

She's still single . . . and she's still close to my fiancé's mom.

I don't want her to be at our wedding because I don't want my fiancé to see her and start thinking about all the good times they had together.

Am I being shallow? Should I let my fiancé invite his ex-girlfriend to our wedding? Would other women be comfortable with it?

--Dana, 33
