Did the Queen actually Parachute Into the Opening Ceremonies of the Summer Olympics?

Did you really think that Queen Elizabeth and Daniel Craig actually jumped out of the plane for the opening celemonies of the 2012 summer Olympics in London?  Of course not, they were both actors. I didn't realize that the stand-in for the Queen was a man though.  42 year old stuntman named Gary Connery. He was hired because he's made almost 1,000 skydives in his career and is known for extreme and dangerous jumps.

Seven Out of Eight People Stalk Their Exes on Facebook!

A study by Western University found that seven out of eight people have stalked their ex on Facebook after a breakup. That's 88% of us. Here are some of the ways people do it:

--48% of people remained friends with their ex on Facebook, which obviously makes it a lot easier to 'stalk' someone.

--70% used a mutual friend's profile . . . or LOGGED ON as that friend . . . just to see what was new with their ex.

--74% checked out the profile of someone their ex was dating . . . or that they THOUGHT their ex MIGHT be dating.

--And just in case their ex was stalking THEM, 31% of us have posted photos that we thought would make our ex jealous . . . and 52% of people HAVE gotten jealous over a photo on their ex's profile.

--And finally, 33% of people have posted song lyrics or a quote that referred to their ex as their Facebook status.

Wine Signing by Winemaker Daryl Groom

Now here's a wine with a story and winemaker Daryl Groom is in town to tell us about it. Groom will be signing bottles of Colby Red tomorrow afternoon between 3 and 4 pm at the NSLC in Bayers Lake.

Colby Red was launched in 2011. It was inspired by Daryl's son, Colby who endured two open-heart surgeries before age 10 to repair a congenitally faulty heart valve.  His first operation at age 8 was unsuccessful, so nine months later he went under the knife again to replace the bad aortic valve with a mechanical one.

Colby Red wasn’t just named after Daryl’s son; it was Colby’s idea.  After recovering from his second surgery, Colby asked his dad if they could make a couple barrels of wine together.  Then Colby suggested that they start selling the wine and donate the profits to fund heart research.

Colby’s struck an emotional chord with both win lovers and in a little over a year the wine has raised nearly $250,000 for heart-related charities.

Darryl would like to raise $25,000 in Nova Scotia. Meet him tomorrow in Bayers Lake.
