Dancing with the Stars judge, Carrie Ann Inaba was subbing for Kelly Ripa on Live! with Regis and Kelly when her boyfriend, Jesse Sloan, made a surprise appearance to propose marriage.
At first, it just seemed as though Regis Philbin was answering a viewer’s question about how best to propose to his girlfriend, but as the host offered his advice — dimming the lights, romantic music, beautiful flowers — all of those things began to appear on the Live! set. And when Philbin mentioned the need for an engagement ring, Sloan entered the stage to ask a delighted Inaba to be his wife.

Loud Kitty
A British community college says it has a recorded a house cat whose lawnmower-like purr hit 73 decibels 16 times louder than the average feline.
Northampton College said it had dispatched a music team with specialist sound equipment to record 12-year-old Smokey. The recording has been submitted to the Guinness World Records.
The grey-and-white tabby has already made several appearance in the local press, where journalists compared the purr to the sound of a Boeing 747 from a mile away.
Guinness World Records says it is ``anxiously waiting'' for the recording to see if it meets its standards.

Place your order for $10.00 / dozen before March 27th at www.childrenswish.ca/donut, and your donuts will be brought in fresh for pick up at The Halifax Forum on March 31st. See website for details.
AND YOU COULD ALSO WIN! For every dozen you order, you will be entered into a draw to win airfare for two to Florida or Europe courtesy of AIR TRANSAT. Your purchase will help grant the wishes of children with life threatening illnesses like Gabriel.
Stephanie, Gabriel’s mother, writes:
A wish means so much more then the material parts... it represents people caring for others when they need it most.
Our son was only 10 1/2 months old when he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. It was the hardest thing to see our little boy have to go through so much to be given a 25% chance at life.
21/2 yrs later our son is a happy healthy boy that is seeing that there are people out there working hard so that he can receive his wish! Gabriel's wish is to go see Lighting McQueen at Disney World; we are so blessed that our son is now healthy enough to be able to have his Wish granted!!
We as a family feel so fortunate to be able to be a part of special events like “One Wish in One Day” and to share with the community how much their effects mean.
Gabriel is 3 1/2 and his mission in life is to help the other children that are sick now, he wants to make them feel better. It was other people giving back that helped our son get better and to be able to have his wish come true, so we hope to do the same!

FORMER COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYER TO BE MODEL FOR NEW KEN DOLL
A 25-year-old former Iowa State football player known for sacking quarterbacks on the field has been chosen to be the face of Mattel's redesigned new Ken doll. Kurtis Taylor beat out seven other competitors to become the face of the "Genuine Ken" series. The contestants competed in several challenges, and Taylor reportedly won over the judges by what he did in the romantic gesture category. Given $500 to buy gifts, Taylor gave each judge a penny and donated the rest of the money to the Make a Wish Foundation. Mattel is bringing Ken back after discontinuing the male doll in 2004, ending his 43-year relationship with Barbie.

A legend passes...
Elizabeth Taylor, the last of the great Hollywood studio stars and the first of the modern mega-celebrities, died today in Los Angeles of congestive heart failure. Although seemingly ageless, she was in fact 79.
She was nominated for five Oscars and won twice, for "Butterfield 8" (1961) and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" (1967). She married eight times, twice to Richard Burton.
She called her close friend Michael Jackson "the most normal person I know." She had her 60th birthday party at Disneyland.
Her motto, she once told TV Guide: "The more, the better."

World Water Day
March 22 is World Water Day, which is meant to bring attention to the issue of fresh water and its sustainable management. The United Nations declared the first World Water Day in 1993.
Did you know – Americans use an average of 573 litres of water a person EVERY DAY – Canadian use 329, Brits use 181 & Ethiopians 10.
A new survey suggests most Canadians regularly flush things down the toilet that they shouldn't be.
An online Ipsos Reid survey of 2-thousand Canadian adults found 55% believe fresh water is our most important natural resource, and 78% say they're trying to conserve it.
Yet, almost three quarters still admit to flushing items that could go in a garbage can or composter -- things like leftover food, hair, bugs and cigarette butts.
That wastes 6-to-20 litres of fresh, clean water with each flush.

Generous Celebs
Hollywood legend Clint Eastwood has offered to donate money from the DVD sales of his latest movie Hereafter, which stars Matt Damon to help aid efforts in Japan, just days after the film was pulled from cinemas in the country due to its tsunami scenes. The scenes featuring a character who survives the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami were deemed to be inappropriate in light of recent events.
Many A-listers have donated huge amounts of money to aid earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan, including actress Sandra Bullock, who has donated $1 million to the Red Cross to support its relief effort.
Demi Lovato wants to lead by example as well and is now encouraging people to donate money to relief in Japan after making her own hefty donation.
Lovato reportedly donated $1 million to help.
Rebecca Black is the queen of You Tube! and iTunes.
Despite the endless internet ridicule, Rebecca Black's single "Friday" has cracked the iTunes Top 100. As of Thursday afternoon, the single was sitting at number 54 on the chart.
The 13-year-old's swift ascent to fame began after Comedy Central's Tosh.0 blog posted the video under the title, "Songwriting Isn't For Everyone." The mocking stems from lyrics like, "Tomorrow is Saturday/And Sunday comes afterwards."
Black ignored the (many) haters and tweeted, "Slowly working it's way to the top!! Thank you all so much! So honored. So many amazing and talented people actually KNOW of my song. It's been an incredible last few days. Thanks you all!"

Facebook Bans Sale Of Mark Zuckerberg Doll
Facebook has banned the sale of a Mark Zuckerberg doll, made by Made in China Gadgets.
The doll is a spitting image of the Facebook CEO, which is probably the reason why Facebook has sent a cease and desist letter saying that they did not consent to the use of their copyright and trademark.
The Mini-Mark was about 7 inches tall and came with "Like" and "Poke" signs, which you could change. Oh well it's too bad, it's a hilarious idea for the Facebook fanatic in you life!!

The rare Tibetan Mastiff breed is believed to be one of the oldest and fiercest in the world, and, according to legend, both Genghis Khan and Buddha had them. PEPSICO UNVEILS BOTTLE MADE ENTIRELY OF PLANT MATERIALS
Yesterday, PepsiCo unveiled a new bottle made entirely of plant materials that the company says looks, feels and protects the drink inside exactly the same as the current bottles do. The new bottle is made from switch grass, pine bark, corn husks and other materials, and Pepsi ultimately plans to also use orange peels, oat hulls, potato scraps and other leftovers from its food business for the bottles. While not biodegradable, the bottles are recyclable, and creating them is more environmentally friendly since they are not petroleum-based, like regular plastic. It also gives Pepsi a leg up over competitor Coca-Cola, which currently produces a bottle that is 30 percent made up of plant-based materials. Pepsi will begin testing the bottles in 2012.
