Bills You Hate To Pay

We all have one. Of all the bills you have to pay each month, we bet there's one that drives you crazy. Is it the power bill, the cell phone bill? Or maybe it's that cheque you cut to your ex each month. C'mon, you can tell us.

I get so frustrated when I open my water bill. I use $25 - $30 in actual water and my bill is AT LEAST triple that with taxes and harbour clean up etc. That harbour clean up charge has been on there now for about 20 years! Where has all of that money gone? I know the harbour is supposed to be in pretty good condition now but it still seems that they must have collected enough money to clean the water of the world by now!! And now the oil company tells me that the oil will be $1.25/ltr this year. You know I hear the people right now talking to you and they are complaining about paying for the luxury items. These are the necessities I am complaining about.

It's not really a bill, but it does appear on one. Every night spent in a Halifax Hotel racks up more charges with a HRM Marketing Levy. With the costs of everything else sky-rocketing and tourists being driven to becoming penny pinchers, it is frustrating to see a marketing fee! Maybe I don't get out enough to know if this is the norm, but I think it is pretty rotten.

We are on budget billing for our oil bill and we pay almost $300/mo for 10 months of the year so we get 2 "free" months with no payment. We usually have a credit in our account, which the statements show every month. Sometimes we have as much as $1500 credit, but the $300 payment still comes out during the 10 month period and this KILLS my husband to pay this! Barb

I once read a verse which has stuck with me. I don't recall the specifics, but the message was basically as follows:

If you are complaining about the price of gas, it means you have a vehicle.

If you are complaining about the price of groceries, it means you are eating.

If you are complaining about property taxes, it means you have a home.

The verse had many examples of things we complain about on a daily basis. Things we take for granted which other's would be happy to have an opportunity to be thankful for.

It's easy to complain, but really, we should sit back and count our blessings. Regardless of how bad we may think we have it, we are Canadians rich beyond measure.

There is no special bill I hate to pay .... other than taxes. Living in Nova Scotia we are taxed to death. The GST / HST is ridiculous. Medical services for our pets is even taxed. Where does all this money go? Every time I buy an item I cringe when I see how much sales tax there is.I could be putting this money into the bank for my high priced gas or home heating oil. Things that are sincerely needed should not be taxed... such as electric bill, water bill, phone bill, etc. Come on give us a break !!
