Fireworks Sale Ban

The city councillor for Fairview Clayton Park wants to see a ban on the sale of fireworks in the HRM. Russel Walker plans to ask council to have staff draw up a bylaw proposal that would ban the sale of fireworks within city limits. Walker says it's a safety issue and he says he has received many calls from people complaining about fireworks being set off at all hours of the day and night. And, although fireworks can't be legally sold to people under the age of 18, Walker says young people are getting their hands on them.

Care to comment? Is a ban going to far? Are you tired of hearing fireworks in your neighbourhood?

I agree to ban the sale of fireworks. I hear them going off at least 3 nights a week behind my house. It does make me nervous. It is kids setting them off. Someone is either going to get hurt or a house is going up in flames. Lets not wait until we say "too bad they didn't ban them before this had to happen"

Get them off of the shelves. they are so much eaiser for kids to get their hands on.
I have a neighbour behind me that likes to shoot off fire works about twice a month in the wee hrs of the morning. I am tired of them waking up my toddler.
for some reason i am the only one on my street complaining about it. Come on people!!!!!

good grief!
do people really want to have every part of thier lives regulated, because at the rate the complainers and nay-sayers are going... that's exactly what's going to happen!
Fireworks are great! I use them perhaps 3 times a year, my neighbours know, most time's they're at my house when it happens!
for the people who use them irresponsibly, I say catch em on camera, THEN call the cops!

come on people are we going to start banning people from listening to music in public next these people who are setting off these fireworks are only trying to have some fun if we want to do something about it why not just put some sort of time restrictions on when they can be set off

I think that they should ban fire works and take them off the shelves. I live out in Porters Lake and the kids are setting them off EVERY night durning the week. I am a young adult (25) and I thought the sale of fireworks was going to be great but now that they are becoming more of a problem then fun it needs to stop

I really do agree that fireworks should be banned or regulated at the very least. They are always being set off by kids around my area and I'm sick to the back teeth of having to go into my toddler during the night to calm him down as they scare him. How am I going to calm 2 kids down when the next comes along. I think they should be used responsibly and by ADULTS only, not daft kids. Someones going to get hurt and the bet is it will be the innocent ones not the eedyats setting them off!
