I'll start off the conversation. Tom's Restaurant on Sackville Drive is fairly new. It has great Greek food but the menu is varried. The service is good and you get great value. It's not a secret though. It seems to always be busy.

The eatery I most frequent is McDonald's. What they can do with low grade hamburger is genius....but I love Onyx too...great food wonderful wait staff.

For Mexican food it has to be Mexico Lindo on Dutch Village Road. It is very small, but the food is the best. You had better have a reservation though or you won't be getting a table.

it's hard to pick a favorite so I won't... but we love Tareks, Salvatore, the Mic Mac and Mexico Lindo... We like to support the local folks....

Without a doubt,JANE'S ON THE COMMON!It is a class above, but great value, superb food and a wonderful wait staff. For a meeting place with friends, try Finbar's...they have traditional pub food as well as a varied menu for healthier choices(maple salmon that melts in your mouth) Also for a night out, Rogi Orazio,Milano's, Picollo Mondo,Trinity or that really special occasion try The Stonehaven or The Press Gang! Both have a romantic atmosphere!

Finbar's in the Sunnyside Mall in Bedford is an awesome stop. The atmosphere is relaxing and they have live music Friday and Saturday with UK Quiz night on Wednesdays. I recommend the nachos or spicy mussels to start! For mains, you must try the pan fried haddock or better yet the chicken asparagus pasta. Heavenly.

They don't take reservations but with patio seating during the nice days you are likely to get a seat.

I'm a big sushi fan and we are so lucky here in Halifax to have as much good sushi as we do. Hamachi House on Morris St and in the Hydrostone is by far the best. Theyr'e even in Dartmouth on Portland St and the sushi is excellent and my husband had the "best" steak he ever had there. The best part of Hamachi is the late night discount eats called Happy maki hour at the south end location. I've been eating there for almost 7 years!! It's really the only place we eat at - but it's about 4 times a week. we should own shares!

Nova scotia is well known for fantastic seafood and amazing service! The only restaurant that consistantly offers this,is Fredies Fantastic Fish.

The seafood there is second to none! Their lobster rolls and chowder will blow you away! They have a location in Tantallon and one in Bayers lake.

The best Chineese food in the city is at Fans Restaurant on Windmill Road in Dartmouth. I highly recommend their lemon chicken

I used to be a culinary student at the NSCC Akerley campus on Main St. in Dartmouth, in my opinion they have the BEST hiddden secret.
Inside is a small (50 People) fine dining restaurant run by all students, it has the best food I have ever tasted, and is presented so beautifully you have to think about how to eat it for a moment. You can get a five course meal (dessert is a must) for roughly 40 dollars, it is fast food cheap with a quality out of this world!
It is open from the months of October to December, then reopens the end of January and runs until the end of March or beginning of April.

The Cellar in Bedford is a great spot they have an awesome chicken curry pasta (that is addictive!) it's not a really big secret and it's usually busy -- but it's under construction right now. Good value nice surroundings and Kid friendly!

Fiasco has incredible calamari,
Il Mercato has the best Ravioli in sherry sauce (to die for!), The Fireside has amazing scallop appetizer that is as good as any that you'll spend twice as much for at other restaurants and Opa's Dolmades are pretty amazing.

I would like to take my comment back about Rogi Orazzio being the best restaurant in town .. went there yesterday, the food was not nearly as good as it was when the restaurant just opened. The waitress was very abrupt, not a single smile, she didn't even look at us while talking to us. $100 worth of disappointment!
Never going there again!
