The rights to the Hockey Night in Canada theme have traded hands and are now owned by CTV.
CTV says they are going to use the song for NHL games broadcast on TSN and for the 2010 Winter Olympics. CBC has a contest to find a new song and there is talk that The Hockey Song by Stompin' Tom Connors could be a replacement. Is the Classic Hockey Night in Canada Song replaceable?

I don't think it should be changed. Leave something alone for once.
It is a shame that CBC couldn't pony up the money to keep the song. However CBC has used Stompin Tom's song from time to time and I think it would be a great fit.
CTV is taking everything away from CBC. The song should have stayed with hockey night in Canada on CBC. CTV has already taken the 2010 Vancouver olympics away from CBC!! CBC always had the olympics...
