working at Consumers Glass on Toronto working quality control on the Crown Royal bottle line...... bottle after bottle after bottle going by on a conveyor belt for 8 hours a day.... or maybe it was hulling strawberries in the processing plant for 3 weeks from 9-9 ... I think I was 14 or 15 and I thought at the time I made a million dollars....

Raking blueberries. Getting 50Cents per huge bucket of blueberries.... had to carry the buckets back to the truck and go back up the hill and rake bucket after bucket. Hitting hornet nests and getting stung a million times!

scooping ice cream on the waterfront for $4.50 an hour the summer AFTER i got my university degree. jobs were hard to come by then!

but..i'm not scooping ice cream anymore. :o)

i also was on an 'odd jobs' list for students...my female friend and i moved a whole house for 6 hours straight one day...at $5.00/hr..they didn't give us a penny more. so $30 for the whole day - and it was a very labour intensive day (for two female students only...moving washers, dryers, couches, etc)

the next day i got really sick and had to buy antibiodics to clear up an infection and they cost me @ $30 at the time. so pretty much....a waste of my day. oh well! life went on....

:o)

When I was 15 years old, I spent the Summer as a Parking Lot attendant. Not that the job was bad, it was WHERE the lot was. In a Downtown Dartmouth parking lot where it held almost exclusively monthly permit holders. It was far enough from the Harbour that NOBODY NEEDED TO PARK THERE!!! I was so bored.

I spent most of my time drawing and sitting outside getting a tan. Sadly the only upside was I had the BEST TAN of my life...and now, my almost 40 skin still gets to reveal in the abuse.

At least I had a job and that felt super-cool! It means more when you work for it!!!!!!!

working at a fish plant, baiting trawl barrels for fishing boats with rotten mackeral and squid.
Managed to get one 3/4 full before I emptied my stomach outside!!!
Never went back!!!

OMG - the WORST had to be babysitting these 3 kids who were the children of a police office - they were so bad.

They handcuffed me to a chair for 2 hours once. The 8 year old kicked the crap out of me, the 6 year old did nothing but cry all summer and the 2 year old had the habit of wiping his dirty diaper on the wall behind his crib.

The 2 year old jumped in the pool and his wonderful mother pushed me in after him! Too scared to get her "beautiful" self wet!
