I love the new Coldplay stuff, and I am a huge Coldplay fan. There new album is different but it's because as musicians they are growing and changing. Their last album was 2005 and a lot has happened since then. Their music has to change to, and I believe the change was for the better.
And if you feel it fades into the background "TURN IT UP!" all music will be background music without some volume! YOU have to make it important to you, and until then.... well.. you get the point. -Rebecca Clancey
Zach, I am with you on Coldplay. I find their new music very bland especially this song. However I would have to disagree on your other tastes. Rihanna and Hedley are pure garbage. I despise their music and they are played way too much on C100. That new Kardinal song is ok, but I am already tired of it.
Coldplay's new song is great, as is Violet Hill - except that every time it' s played, I'm reminded of another song which I can't think of. It just sounds like something else - but what?
As to Rihanna - please. She's really not that great - she sings through her nose! I have to [sorry] change stations when her songs come on. I always turn it back after a couple or three minutes... DC

I liked their original stuff, but I don't find their new album to be "Crank it up" worthy. It just fades into the background for me.
Kardinal Offishall featuring Akon, Hedley, or Rihanna's new one ... Now that is a different story!
