Good Neighbours/Bad Neighbours

If you would like to expand upon our "Question of the Day" here's your chance. What kind of neighbours do you have? If they've done something amazing for you, tell us. If they're unbearably evil, vent!

I have the neighbours to beat all neighbours. They have an old car in their driveway that hasn't worked in over a year - they now use it as a garbage can. On clean up day they decided to open the door to the car to put the garbage out and the smell was so bad they couldn't even stand it. So the garbage still sits in the car...and all over the back lawn. Needless to say, they are renters and I and many other neighbours can't wait for them to leave.

Hello,

I would like to say my neighbours are great...we have lived in East Chester for over 3 years and whenever we go away our neighbours check on our house if they see anyone strange around, take out our garbage if we're away and last winter cleared our driving after a snow storm so we did't have to shovel the driveway to get in. We don't see much of them as we are all so very busy but we sure appreciate them after having bad neighbours in the past.....Tammy

I have the crazy neighbours across and beside me. Weekends are never a dull moment in my subdivision, ages are from 38-67 we break into each others homes when they have had a few too many cocktails and pull the most outrageous stunts we can think off. For example- Getting in bed with one of the spouses and taking pictures and down loading them on the computer so it is the first thing they see when they turn the computer on.. or puting makeup on the men, painting toenails..what ever we can think of...always a great laught.

I remember when I was a ki we had this neighbour that used to take off his shirt and drive on his bike at all hours of the day and night. Thats not the bad part. He used to make loud noises that sounded like a dying monkey.we had a lot of strange people move in and thankfully out as i grew up but I have to say he was one of the strangest

We have great neighbours! Just this past Christmas we told them that we would be out of town but we had forgotten to tell them that a friend of ours would be staying at the house while we were away. When my neighbour drove past our house and noticed that there was a strange car in the driveway and lights on, he parked his car at the bottom of our driveway and got his wife to call us in Cape Breton to make sure that the person was not an intruder.

I have incredible neighbors!!! As a military spouce my husband is away quite a bit and my neighbors are great for little things like stopping by to see if I need anything on their way to the store, picking me up a timmies when they notice my lights have been on all night, helping me with maitnance, and walking my son to the bus stop on really cold mornings, and their older son helps with mowing my grass, shoveling my driveway and helping with garbage. When her husband is away my husband helps her out with house maitnance and we in turn try to check and make sure she has everything she needs, although her children are older and she has much more freedom than I do,lol. We often BBQ together and are very close. They are posted this summer and I will truly be haert broken.

I'm not sure if this is a good or a bad thing...other than a little friendly "Hi how's it going?", I don't really know the neighbours on my street very well...am I alone??

Our neighbours to the left of us let their dog run around our front yard and poop. They do pick it up but it's annoying. Our other neighbours are really noisy in the evening and on weekends when he isn't at work.

My neighbour has always been very good to me. I am a single mother, so when I needed something done around the house that I couldn't do myself, he was always there. He often helped me in the yard, replaced my fence, filled my kids' bike tires with air, cleared my driveway with his snowblower, even after I bought my own and always had nice chats with my kids. He was always giving me great advice. In December, I lost one of my children. When this happened, he constantly kept my driveway and walkway clear of ice and snow so visitors to my house could get in safely. The weather was miserable on most of those days, but there he was, out making sure my driveway was clear. One morning, I heard him out there at 3 am. His wife made my family meals and they were both their for my family. Sadly, three weeks after I lost my daughter, my wonderful neighbour passed away. I didn't get to thank him for everything he has done for me over the years, and especially during our tragedy. I will always remember him. He was such a sweet man.

Deb ~ I'm with you. I have my own family and friends, and I work with people all day. Home is my private space and I am perfectly happy with "hi", "bye", "nice weather" kind of stuff.

We just moved into a house from an apartment building and what a difference! I don't get stuck in the laundry room for 45 minutes while one (or more) of the neighbours talk my ear off. I can even sit on my deck without having to endure unwanted interruptions (we were on the bottom floor and a lot of people who walked by felt that it was fine to stop and talk...and talk...).

I hope I don't sound rude; I am a people person, and really friendly, but I just like my quiet time too. I prefer to socialize when I want to! :)

I have great neighbors! Most are older then me, so we don't have a lot of common interests, but they are SUPER pleasant, and I always drop over for a chat when they are outside in their yards.

I've had get togethers at home, or have been working in the garage late at night, and have never had a complaint from them!... wait ... maybe I’m the bad neighbor?

A+ Neighbors over here!
